Let's Talk about the "Relaunch"

The "Relaunch"

Roughly a month ago, DC Comics announced it was going to initiate a "relaunch" of their comic lines.  *GASSSSPPP*, this is a pretty big deal.

- For starters, Batman is NOT is not starting from scratch.  The current story lines will continue as they are.

- Dick Grayson is going back to Nightwing, Bruce is going taking over Batman.  This, along with Barbara Gordon returning as Batgirl will be explained.

The Books:

  • Batman: Written by Scott Snyder, art by Greg Capullo

  • Detective Comics: Written by Tony Daniel, art by Tony Daniel

  • Batman and Robin: Written by Peter Tomasi, art by Pat Gleason

  • Batman - The Dark Knight: Written by David Finch, art by David Finch

  • Nightwing: Written by Kyle Higgins, art by Eddy Barrows

  • Batgirl: Written by Gail Simone, art by Ardian Syaf

  • Batwoman: Written by JHW3 & W. Haden Blackman, art by JHW3 & Amy Reeder

  • Birds of Prey: Written by Duane Swierczynski, art by Jesus Saiz

  • Catwoman: Written by Judd Winick, art by Guillem March

  • Red Hood & The Outlaws: Written by Scott Lobdell, art by Kenneth Rocafort

  • Batwing: Written by Judd Winick, art by Ben Oliver

  • Batman Inc. is going to continue in early 2012.

Many of the books interest me, and it is going to be hard to save any money come September.  Scott Snyder is very good and I'm excited for his work on the flagship title.

12 Minutes of Arkham City, Happy 4th!

    Arkham City Gameplay Trailer

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9Av8GvW4xo

This is a few days old at this point, but a twelve minute gameplay trailer for Arkham City was released.  Generally, it looks FUCKING AMAZING.  While not perfect, Arkham Asylum is my favorite game of all time. I'm hoping in Arkham City, there is less of an emphasis of crawling through air conditioning vents.  Time and time again, one finds themselves crawling through vents.  The whole "sneaking through a vent" thing is horribly cliche and lazy.  I can handle it one or two times, but after the 20th time, it gets a little stale.  I also felt some of the "rhino charge" style boss fights were uninspired.  Other than that, its a fucking amazing game!

From the video, my one complaint would be a kind of lame one.  I feel the dialogue, particularly Catwoman's is really cliche.  I understand her character is a "bat-the-eyes," frisky type, but the whole "nine lives" thing pisses me off for some reason.  They can do better, I know they can.  The game is going to be awesome though.

    Happy 4th!

My life is a piece of shit, hope yours is better!

Index of Good Batman Sites, 8 views!!

    Index of Good Batman Sites

Unlike this blog, there are a few Batman sites that are truly well done, and I check everyday for information.

    Batman on Film - http://www.batman-on-film.com/jettsmainpage.html

This covers virtually everything in relation to Batman - comics, games, movies.  This blog is a homeless persons version of that website.  I find the layout to be a little clunky, but it has a ton of great information, updated constantly.  They even do a podcast, which eventually I will get around to listening to.

    Batman-News - http://batman-news.com/

This site is centered around news for "The Dark Knight Rises."  It doesn't have as much content as Batman on Film, but it is very easy to catch the latest developments from DKR's from it.  383 days to go!

    Comics @ IGN - http://comics.ign.com/

IGN, the site that covers everything.  I find their comic section to be rather informative.  Reviews, news, and a decent article every now and then.  They do a weekly podcast as well, IGN Assemble, which is very good for comic opinions.

    Gotham Spoilers - http://gothamspoilers.tumblr.com/

This is a blog by a smart, informed Batman fan.  He mainly focuses on Batman comics, but he will comment on Arkham City or various other things from time to time.  He is a lot smarter than me, and has a great understanding of the comic world.  I highly recommend following him on Twitter as well: https://twitter.com/#!/gothamspoilers

    Batman Forum @ CBR - http://forums.comicbookresources.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5

There are a few good posters here.  Gotham Spoilers (Fhiz) is one of them.  I will say the majority of the posters are morons, and think they are smarter than Christoper Nolan.  Having said that, I have learned much from generous and wise posters on the forum.

Yep, my first post yesterday received 8 views, 4 of them probably coming from me.  I'm actually quite shocked, who would want to read my shitty blog?  Apparently, one of them is from Ireland too.  I'm honored.  Thank you all!

First Post and Tom Hardy Interview (Dark Knight Rises Spoilers)

    First Post

Welcome to Batman Source!  I intend this blog to be a place where one can find information on all kinds of Batman content - be it comics, movies, video games, action figures, etc.  Hopefully, it won't suck, and someone other than myself will actually read it, although why would anyone actually read my terrible blog.

    Tom Hardy Interview (DKR's Spoilers)

Batman-news.com, a website that is much better than mine, and a site everyone interested in Batman should read, posted an interview with Tom Hardy, who as we know, is playing Bane in the movie.

    http://batman-news.com/2011/07/01/tom-hardy-on-the-dark-knight-rises-secrecy/#more-2768

His mention of secrecy is something that Michael Caine mentioned recently in an interview as well.  It seems that Nolan is very intent on keeping as much as possible a secret in the movie.  In this day and age, good luck with that!

Bane is one of my all time favorite Batman villains.  The Bane that audience members saw in Batman & Robin (THE WORST FUCKING MOVIE OF ALL TIME), was an atrocity against humanity.  No joke.  The amount of effort they put into him was disgraceful.  Bane fucking broke Batman's back, and he gets treated like some mindless grunt.  Not to mention Bane has genius level intellect too.  Shameful.  Thinking about Bane in that movie just makes me angry.  I myself am not too familiar with Tom Hardy's work outside of Inception, and I am utterly fascinated at how he is going to pull off Bane.

If Bane isn't portrayed well, I will literally do this do Christoper Nolan.

    DON'T FAIL ME NOLAN.
